Episode 1 : " The Bald Lie

Here is the first episode of Balding Bob and Fleckie the Follicle.
I have had so much fun working on this project. The client allows me the freedom to just let loose and create. The idea of doing a motion comic has always appealed to me.
It's a lot of fun adding some animation here and there, to compliment the drawings.
I have pushed the animation a little further in the next episode, so stay tuned for more

Fleckie the Follicle

This is a still from the motion comic I have created for the Hair Transplant Network.
Fleckie the Follicle, pictured here, is covered in " Toop Goop", in preparation for Balding Bob's rug.
( The comic is created in Flash )

I will post the first two episodes soon.

" Have Cintiq, Will Travel ! "

I have been working on site at the Network. The people are great, and I am enjoying this opportunity to work on a really neat project.
It is the first time I have ever worked on a Mac, and I gotta say it isn't that bad.
Not that I will be rushing out to buy one of my own, but I think it's great that I'm getting the experience.
Here is an action shot of me at my post:

Right now I am creating assets to be used for the animation, which I will also be doing. Very cool stylized stuff, but I am used to drawing directly in Flash using my Cintiq.
They don't have one, so I am bringing in mine.

The funny thing is that I finally know why I had an extra plug for the connection cable in the box.  Here I was thinking that people must be animals or something, that they would wear out the plug in the back somehow, or lose it....but no.
It is an adapter to be used if you hook the Cintiq up to a Mac.
Taa-Daaa!
I am hooked on this Wacom invention, and am now thinking about buying the smaller version of the Cintiq, something a pinch more portable.
But for the present, I bring my baby into the office on Monday, and bring her home for the weekends.
( Hey Wacom, any hope for a deal for this commercial plug? I mean, at least 10 -15 people read this blog everyday ).
: )

Mountain Guy ( a quick sketch)

Had to do a quick sketch. I think I'll clean this guy up in Illustrator later this week.

More Illustrator work

Give me a book, and I can figure it out. Let me tell you about a book I have had my nose in for the past two weeks,
" Illustrator CS Most Wanted Techniques and Effects ", by Matt Kloskowski.
( Not a paid endorsement, but when I like something I tell my friends )

I have had Illustrator on my computer, in one form or another, for as long as I can remember. I bought all sorts of books, learned how to put type on a path, etc.
But I always fell back to Flash to do my drawings,( because nothing ' clicked ' with me and Illustrator), then exported the finished piece as an Illustrator file.
Then I would bring the file into Illustrator and make some minor tweaks.
Whadda way to run a railroad! I would be bogged down for hours, not to mention some gigs that slipped through my fingers due to my lack of ability with the program.
Finally, I bought this book, began to read and do the tutorials, and things are slowly sinking in.
Here is my latest illustration, all in Illustrator, featuring Balding Bob.
So, if you have struggled with this amazing program, give this book a try.
( This book is so good, my dog, Candy , ate the front cover!)
