Microsoft Fun

Last Sunday, Dec. 18, I had the chance, along with a few other artists, to try out some cool products at the Microsoft store at the Lenox Mall in Atlanta.
We had Surface Pro 4s, Surface Books, and the REALLY cool Surface Studio.
(Hint: Santa, drop one of those in my stocking!)
We were given 45 minutes to create a piece of art.
I had a Surface Book, and did this:

I liked this little Santa Rex, so I decided to recreate it once I got home, to add a little more pizazz.
Here is the finished illustration:

Blast from the Past...Halloween that is.

My favorite Halloween costume, Caspar the Friendly Ghost. As this was in Minnesota, notice the coats, mittens, and hats.

Dee Dee Demolishes Proctor Square! (not really)

Today in my city of Duluth, Georgia, there was a ceremony downtown. A blighted area known as Proctor Square is being demolished to create new shops, apartments, restaurants, etc.
What was really cool was that the character I created for the Mayor, Dee Dee the Chicken, was the one who pushed the plunger.
After the "explosion", there were photo ops with Dee Dee swinging a sledge hammer.

Friday the 13th Campfire story

From the movie MEATBALLS:
"I remember a night like this a few years ago.
A guy and a girl went out driving.
It was one of their first dates.
It started out kind of casual, but they ended up deciding to go park. Not too far from here, as a matter of fact. They're going at it, listening to the radio. All of a sudden, a news bulletin broke in:'Dangerous lunatic has escaped... from the
hospital for
the criminally insane at Two Pines'."
"Oh, come on, Trip."
"They described him as a monster, six and a half feet tall,
280 pounds...
with one horrible,
distinguishing feature... a sharpened, stainless steel hook..."
"Oh, God."
"...Where his right hand used to be
That was enough for the guy.
He slammed the car into gear, floored it, bounced off a tree... didn't stop till they got
to the girl's house.
Got out of his side,
walked around to hers. There, hanging in the door, covered with blood... was a stainless steel hook.
The strangest part is that after all these years...after the biggest manhunt in Two Pines' history...they never found the killer.
Some people say he's still
up here in the woods...waiting for the chance to kill again. And I say... I say they're right! "
Then, the classic wrap-up to this scene:"That's a bullshit story."
"You guys, it's true. I heard it before.""I heard it was on a beach."
"Yeah."

" I heard it happened in a park."" I heard it, but the guy was missing a foot.""How could the guy have a hook on his foot?"
I present to you, that legend from the stick side of the campfire, THE TWIN PINES MANIAC!

Nice going, Shakespeare!

The guy did it all. Do you want ghosts? Kings being murdered? Wives being strangled? Faeries playing tricks?
Shakespeare wrote all of that and more.
He also managed to cook up some great insults like "Villain, I have done your mother", and the classic "Methink'st thou art a general offence and every man should beat thee".
Have a great Shakespeare Day!

Tiny Ripples

Happy Earth Day!
When you are out and about today, if you see a piece of trash, pick it up and throw it away.
You don't have to pick up everything, just pick up that one piece of paper, that candy wrapper, etc.
Tiny ripples can make a difference.

Happy Year of the Monkey!

 photo HYOTFM_zpsaljrx7zr.gif

This is the Year of the Monkey, to be specific, the Fire Monkey. A year that favors fresh starts, yet you have to be careful not to over extend yourself. It should be a good year for us Wood rabbits.
